John Dhone passed from this life at the hospital in Clarinda, Monday, August 25, 1924. The body was brought to Corning and funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Christian Church, at 2:00, conducted by Rev. E. S. Menoher, pastor of the M. E. Church. Interment was made in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. Mr. Dhone was born November 25, 1861 in Morgan County, Ohio (to Joseph Albert Dhone and Martha Seaman Thomas), and at the time of his death was aged 62 years, 9 months, and 3 days. When about four years of age, he came to Adams County and most of his life has been spent in this community. He was married to Miss Rosa Thompson ( he married her February 18, 1903 in Bedford, Iowa) of Hale vicinity, who survives her husband. Mr. Dhone also leaves his son, Smith, and by a former marriage (Amanda E. Maybee who he married May 31 1885 in Corning, Iowa), three children, Albert of Carbon, Craig, of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Jennie Shield of Pleasantville. He is also survived by one brother, who reside in Spring Fork, Missouri. Three children preceded their father in death.
