Thomas Whitten Knapp was born in Benton County, Arkansas, December 22, 1879, the son of Washington Nelson and Sarah Ellen Knapp, and passed away at his home near Prescott, July 30th, 1946 of a heart attack.
On August 1, 1906, he was united in marriage with Maude E. Street at Fort Scott, Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. Knapp made their home in Vernon County, Missouri for forty-five years, moving to the Prescott vicinity in March 1940. Mrs. Knapp passed away June 1943.
Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs Knapp, all of whom survive. They are Mrs. Leota Phillips, Blotesbury, Missouri, Marvin, Edgar D., Tade, Thelma Opal, all of Prescott; Mrs. Mable Roberts, Red Oak; Nadine Knapp, Des Moines, Mrs. Pearl Sarneckl, West Des Moines; Mrs. Eileen Lewis, Creston.
Other relatives left to mourn his passing are; Mrs. Harry Berry, Merriam, Kansas; Mrs. Annabelle Gates and William Knapp of Salina, Oklahoma; Downey Knapp, Riverside, California; five grandsons, two granddaughters, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held in the Christian Church in Prescott, Thursday, August 1 at 2:00 o’clock, conducted by Rev. McCallan of Creston.
Pall bearers were Marvin Knapp, Edgar D. Knapp, Tade Knapp, Chleo Phillips, Arthur Lewis, J. D. Roberts. Interment was the Evergreen Cemetery at Prescott.
