George Elliott Robison, the son of Harmond and Carrie Miller Robison, was born March 14, 1897 at Quincy, Iowa and passed away quietly in his sleep at his home in Prescott, Iowa, February 10, 1978, at the age of 80 years, 10 months, and 26 days.
He was married to Mearl Means, November 29, 1915 at the Methodist Parsonage in Carbon by the Rev. A. Y. Cupp. Three sons were born to this union, Caroll and Dean, both of Prescott, and Harris who died at the age of 17.
He is survived by his wife, Mearl, his sons, Caroll and Dean; daughters-in-law, Dorothy and Wilma; eight grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by five sisters, Elsie Freshour of Carbon, Doris Freeman and Gusta Winkelman of Greenfield, Florence Orr of Casey, and Hester Brown of Fontanelle; one aunt, May Hoselton of Corning and one uncle, Ira Robison, also of Corning.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Harris; one grandson, Jerry, one granddaughter Shren Walter, one infant granddaughter and one infant great-grandson; one sister, Susie Armstrong, and two sisters who died in infancy.
He was a member of the Carbon Methodist Church and served on the board of this church for a number of years. He was also a trustee for 15 years during his membership in the Prescott United Church.
He was a miner, a framer, and a carpenter before his retirement about eight years ago.
He and his wife, Mearl were privileged to celebrate their 61st wedding anniversary before his death.
He was a lover of music and played the violin since his boyhood. The happiest hours of his life were the ones he and his wife spent playing and singing with their children and grandchildren. He loved people and enjoyed visiting, and the latch-string was always out for their many friends. He was an avid gardener and spent many hours keeping the lawn and flower in beautiful condition.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, children, and grandchildren and his many friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held at the Prescott United Church, February 14, at l:30 p.m. with Rev. Larry Davidson and Rev. James King officiating. Burial was in the Quincy Cemetery.
Organ music was provided by Clarice Outhier. Flower bearers were Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Williams and Mr. and Mrs Delmar Uehing. Pallbearers were Doyle Dixon, Harold Taylor, Frankie Heimbaugh, Peter McMorran, Jim Brown, and George Orr. Honorary bearers were Bob Dicks, Lloyd West, Rev. Elmer West, Paul Falconer, S. A. Williams, Bill Nixon, and Marvin Taylor
