Charles Franklin Johnson, son of Charles Mitchell Johnson and Virginia Phillips, passed away at his home on November 10, 1953 at the age of 72 years, 4 months, and 12 days. Death came with a heart attack after a lingering illness.
Frank was born June 28, 1881 in Adams County. On June 21, 1905, he was united in marriage to Pearl Daggett. To this union were born three children, Howard Edmund of Medimont, Idaho, Clarence Clark of East Moline, Illinois, and Regina Ruth of Corning.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, two brothers, Stephen and Leaman. Surviving are his wife and three children, eight grandchildren, one grandson now serving in the Marine Corps in San Diego, California, and one great-grandson. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Helen rocker of Hurley, South Dakota.
He united with the Christian Church of Corning early in life and was a faithful worker in the church as long as his health permitted.
He owned and operated a radiator repair shop in this community until ill health forced his retirement and for twenty year he was a member of the volunteer fire department of Corning.
Frank will be greatly missed by his friends and neighbors. He was devoted to his family and his cheery kindness spoke much of the good life he lived.
Funeral services were held Friday, November 13 at 3 p.m. from the Christian Church in Corning with Rev. Ray Nixon officiating. Music was by Mrs. Betty Hill and Mrs. Dessie Avaux with Mrs. Beverly Drew, pianist. Burial was in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Pall bearers were Andy Kepner, Perry James, Carl Riegel, Carl Bickford, Clarence King, and Chance Murphy.
