Robert Lee Long, son of Robert and Myra Long, was born February 5, 1884 and departed this life at the Rosary Hospital in Corning, August 28, 1952 at the age of 68 years, 6 months, and 23 days, after a long illness.
In early manhood he was united in marriage to Cora Doggett, who preceded him in death. On February 8, 1911, he was united in marriage to Velma Kempson. To this union one son was born.
Surviving are his wife and son, Loren, the daughter-in-law, four grandchildren; Ruth, Nancy, Lesley, and Donnie Joe, two brothers, Ralph Long of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Elmaer Long of Grant, one sister, Alice McIntosh of Sunnyside, Washington, and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and seven brothers. He was prominent farmer in Adams County most of his life. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 30 at 2 o'clock at the Nodaway Methodist Church, conducted by pastor Rev. James Wilkins, after which interment was made in the Nodaway Cemetery.
The pall bearers were Raymond Long, Arnold Long, Vernon Long, Howard Long, Rober Timmerman, and James Timmerman. The singing was by Mrs. Harold Everett accompanied by Mrs. Carl Johnson.
