Andrew Thompson Sr, an old and honored resident of this city died at his home in Corning, yesterday (Friday) morning at 7:30. He had no special ailment, the machinery of his aged body simply wore out and stopped. Owing to the children all not having arrived when we go to press, the funeral arrangements are not complete. Andrew Thompson was born February 16, 1825 in Yorkshire, England. He came to America in 1840, locating in Henry County, Illinois. He was married to Margaret Inman in April 1849, at Weatherfield, Illinois. Twelve children were born to them, five of whom are living; W. H. Thompson and Mrs. Minnie Dewees of this city; Andy Thompson of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Richard B. of Cannon City, Colorado. Mr. Thompson came to Iowa in 1865, and lived in Quincy where he conducted a harness shop and hotel in the early days. He has been a continuous resident of this county since coming here, with the exception of two years, which he spend in Ottumwa.

Andrew Thompson Sr, died at his home in Corning, Friday morning, January 26, 1912 at 7:30 o'clock, aged 86 years, 11 months, and 20 days. He had arrived to a ripe old age, the machinery of his aged body simply wore out and stopped. Mr. Thompson was born February 16, 1825 in Yorkshire, England. In 1840, he came to America and located in Henry County, Illinois. Mr. Thompson was married to Margaret Inman in April 1849, at Weatherfield, Illinois. To this union twelve children were born, five of whom survive their father. The living are Andy Thompson of Greeley, Colorado, James Thompson of Council Bluffs, Iowa; W. H. Thompson and Mrs. Minnie Dewees of this city; Richard B. of Cannon City, Colorado. He has been a resident of Adams County since 1865, with the exception of two years which he spent in Ottumwa, Mr. Thompson was well known to most of the residents of the county. He was an honored citizen and many friends regret his loss. Funeral services were held at the home, Sunday afternoon, January 28th at 2:30 conducted by Rev. R. W. Shaw, pastor of M. E. Church and interment was made in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
