William Lee Bixler

William L. "Bill" Bixler, son of Frank and Maude Rimby Bixler, was born April 3, 1902 in Adams County, Iowa and passed away June 25, 1986 at the Village Green Nursing Home in Phoenix, Arizona at the age of 84 years.
Born and raised in the Corning area, he spent several years in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Phoenix, Arizona. During his career he farmed, sold real estate, and was in the drapery business.
He was united in marriage to Velma E. Cole in Creston December 16, 1925.
Survivors include his wife, Velma; two sons, Sam and wife Claudean Bixler of Phoenix, Arizona and Jim and wife Bea of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a daughter, Sherry and husband Richard Jameson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and three sisters, Helen (Mrs. Milton) Magnusson of Phoenix, Arizona, Velma (Mrs. Kenneth) Alley of Roswell, New Mexico, and Babe (Mrs. Robert) Root of Des Moines, .
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Frank; a granddaughter, Becky, a brother and a sister.
Funeral services were held at the Goodwin-Lindsay Funeral Home in Corning, June 28, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jeanne Grooms officiating. Burial in the Oakland Cemetery.
Organ music was provided by Dorothy Cook. Casket bearers were Jimmy, Jeffrey, and Joe Bixler, Dick Hylland, Joel Pottinger, and Francis and Kenneth Roland.
A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.
