Fannie B. Goldsmith Murdock, daughter of Edward and Mary Elizabeth Bieber Goldsmith was born July 10th, 1877 in Iveyville, Iowa and passed away January 10th, 1947 at 4:40 in the afternoon, after an illness of three months. She spent five weeks in the Creston Hospital and the last eight weeks at her home.
On July first, 1903, she was married to Harry Earl Murdock at Ridgeway, Missouri. To this union was born one son, Kenneth Earl Murdock of Corning, Iowa.
The family lived on a a farm southwest of Corning for three years; then lived in Brooks for seven years, and since 1914 they have made their home on the farm south of Brooks.
Mrs. Murdock joined the Methodist Church at Iveyville many years ago and the last number of years she has been a member of the Methodist Church in Brooks.
She leaves to mourn their loss her beloved husband, Harry Earl Murdock of Corning; three sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Brown of Corning; Nola Tucker of Loveland, Colorado; and Mrs. Jennie Gillet of Corning; two brothers have preceded her in death; also are five grandchildren; Robert of Annapolis, Randall of Great Lakes; Richard and Roger and Carolyn at home. Alice Ann preceded her grandmother in death.
Mrs. Murdock was a very faithful member of the Methodist Church. She gave of her strength as long as it lasted in the service of her Lord. She will be remembered as one who was a very loving grandmother as well as a devoted wife. She will be missed as a very kind neighbor and one who was always willing to do more than her share.
Funeral services were conducted in the Brooks Methodist Church, Monday, January 14th, at one o'clock p.m. with Rev. V. A. Bloomquist of Corning in charge of services.
Interment was in Prairie Rose Cemetery, with pall bearers, Walter Brown, Eldon Gillet, Loren Fuller, Maria Bowman, Francis Goldsmith, and Clifford Odell.
Music was by Ruth Tucker and Estey Hefling, accompanied by Mrs. Clifford Odell.
