Mrs. Elizabeth Walter, wife of Frederick Walter, died at her home in Nodaway township on Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock of paralysis of which she had been a sufferer's number of times, the last stroke coming about six weeks ago and affecting her head and throat rendering her unable to take nourishment whig mainly caused her death. The deceased was aged 60 years, 1 month, and 5 days and was born in Berne, Switzerland, September 11, 1838, and came with her parents to Monroe County, Ohio in 1852, where she married Frederick Walter in 1858, who died in this county October 27, 1886 of typhoid fever. To this union were born ten children, three sons and seven daughters, seven of whom are living, they being Mrs. Joseph Shields of New Market, Mrs. W. C. McClelland of Corning, Mrs. Alfred Moder of Nodaway, G. F. Walter of Nodaway, Mrs. F. A. Brokaw of Corning, Mrs. A. J. Boylen of Nodaway, and G. F. Walter of Prescott. In 1886 Mr. and Mrs. Walter moved to this county and located in Nodaway township, which was their home until their death and where they were always held in the highest esteem. The funeral was held yesterday at 1 o'clock from the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church conducted by her former pastor, Rev. J. K. Driver of Villisca. Interment in the Methodist Grove Cemetery.
