Lela Hanna Miller
A wave of sadness spread through the community Saturday afternoon, when it was learned that Mrs. Erwin Miller had passed away at the Rosary Hospital following two weeks of critical illness.
Lela Hanna Miller, daughter of the late John William and Hattie R. Hanna, was born at the old family home near Corning, on January 3, 1890 and passed away Saturday afternoon, February 20th, 1960, at the age of 70 years, 1 month, and 15 days.
Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, John Floyd, two sisters, Joy Craft, and Margery L. Hanna.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Erwin, a son, Max and his wife Lenora, of Corning; daughter, Ruth Killion and her husband Marvin of Gretna, Nebraska, Mary Peterson and her husband Roger of Corning. The surviving grandchildren are Amelia Ruth, Mrs. Alice, Janice, and Rita Miller, Mary Jean and Rees Peterson, and Linda and Mark Killion. Three sisters also survive; Miss Hazel Hanna of Corning, Mrs. Lois Hunt of Greenfield, and Mrs. Wilma Deere of Atlantic; also a host of relatives and friends.
Mrs. Miller accepted the gospel in her youth and was affiliated with the Christian Faith.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, a good neighbor and a true friend.
The memory of these virtues and graces adorned her lovely life which together with her warm hospitality will linger long in memory's garden
Services were held Tuesday, February 23, 1960 at 2 p.m., from the Roland Funeral Home in Corning with Rev. Cecil Betts officiating. Music was by Mrs. Dorothy Peckham, Ruth Tranbarger, and Mrs. Marian Champ. Pall bearers were Lester Nelson, Walter Nelson, Charley Miller, Virgil Nelson, Ronald Swartz, and Ira Robison. Interment was in Quincy Cemetery.
