Words cannot express the great sorrow which came to this community Saturday when the word came that Mrs. S. W. Cooper had passed away quite suddenly. This immediate vicinity has always been her home with the exception of the last few years which has been in Corning and to know her was to love her. She was ever ready to help others and never lacked for some cheerful word to all she met. Eva Homan was the daughter of Wesley and Elizabeth Deer Homan and was born August 24, 1867 and departed this life June 3, 1922. She was married to S. W. Cooper, March 8, 1900. To this union was born one daughter, Florence, now twelve years of age. Mrs. Cooper is survived by her husband and daughter, and the step-children are Weaver, Prentice, and Walter Cooper, Corning, and the following half brothers and sisters, Mrs. Nannie Falconer of Enterprise, Oregon, Ed Homan of Meng, Arkansas, Newt Homan, Bethany, Minnesota, Mort Homan of Des Moines, Iowa; Wm. Deer of Corning; Simeon Deer of Mt. Etna. There is a nephew of Mrs. Cooper's who was reared in the home of her parents, Bennie F. Williams of Bridgewater and who the lady was like a mother to. Besides the ones mentiond there is a very large number of nieces, nephews, and other near relatives. All the above mentioned were present for the funeral with the exception of Ed Homan and Nannie Falconer. The funeral was conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 from the First Baptist Church buy Rev. L. W. Ross, pastor of the Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. J. R. McNichols of the Carl M. E. Church and Rev. Harry Rogers of the Brethren Church of Mt. Etna. The pall bearers were nephews of the deceased, Bennie Williams, Calvin, Jesse, and Wesley Homan, Delno and John Deer. The funeral was very largely attended and the floral offerings were many.
