Casey, Ray Albert -
Ray Casey, 87, of Creston, died Thurs. Nov. 23, 2006 at his home in Creston.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2006 at the First Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ) in Creston. Rev. Dr. Diana Leaf will officiate. Burial will be at
Stringtown Cemetery in Stringtown. Open visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 pm
Sunday, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 pm Sunday at the Powers
Funeral Home in Creston. Memorials are to be established in his name. Online

Ray Albert Casey, son of Ada (Moser) Casey and Melvin Casey, was born in
rural Adams County, Iowa. He graduated from Corning High School. On March 20,
1943, he married Gayle Homan in Papillion, Neb. They lived and farmed in Adams
County. Gayle died in Jan. of 1961. On March 21, 1969, Ray married Ethel Callan in
Creston. They made their home in Creston, while Ray worked for Wellman
Dynamics. He retired in 1981. Ethel died in June of 1994. Ray has been a constant
companion of Doris B Briles since 1994. Ray was a member of the First Christian
Church (Disciples of Christ) of Creston, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge
#1398 of Creston.

Survivors include his constant companion, Doris Briles of Creston; three sons,
Larry Casey of Versailles, Mo., Duane (wife Judy) Casey of Villisca, and Stephen
Casey of Queens Creek, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Larry Casey Jr of Altoona; Kim
Thamke of Urbandale, Christopher Casey of Neola, and Rebecca Casey of
Omaha, Neb.; four greatgrandchildren, Amanda and Peyton Thamke and Jack and
Julia Casey; two sisters, Marie Means of Villisca and Violet King of Florissant, Mo.;
Doris's three daughters, Sandy Manrose of Papillion, Neb. and Debbie Means and
Cathy Hayes, both of Creston and Doris's son, Jeff (wife Brenda) Briles of Perry;
and nieces, nephews and other family.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his first and second wife, a daughter-in-
law, Babe Casey, and two brothers-in-law, Clark Means and Dan King.
