Services were held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 14 at the Carl United Methodist Church for Merle Crill, 89, of Corning, Iowa.
Merle passed away on June 12, 2003 at the Corning Nursing and Rehab Center. Services were conducted by Pastor Fred Bryson,
and burial was at the Carl Cemetery. Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials can be paid to Carl United Methodist Church and/or American Cancer Society.
Merle was born on October 6, 1913 in Adams County near Carl, Iowa, to Irwin Prentiss Cooper and Nora Belle Chase.
She graduated from Corning High School with the class of 1931.
She married Sidney Crill on March 2, 1933 in Crete, Nebraska. To this marriage were two children, Donald Crill of Prescott,
Iowa and Richard Crill.
Merle taught country school for a few years until her marriage, she was then a homemaker. She was a member of the
Carl United Methodist Church; the U.M.W; the "Birthday Club," and was the last remaining member.
Survivor include: Son, Donald (Ruby June) Crill of Prescott, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by: Parents; husband, Sidney in 1986; son, Richard; brothers, Ralph and Orval Cooper; sister-in-law,
Helen and Cleone Cooper.
Grandchildren include: Jeff (Martha) Crill; Greg (Julie) Crill and Lori (Darwin) Shires.
Great-Grandchildren include: Brandyn, Clint, Chase, Megan, Bradley, and Brianne Crill; Heidi, Darci, and Joey Shires.
Great-Great-Granddaughter is Macey Crill; other relatives and many friends.
