Jeanne Pierce of Lenox passed away Sunday, June 16, at the age of 79. Funeral services were held on Friday, June 21, at the Ritchie Funeral Home in Lenox with Pastor Tim Maxa officiating Interment was in the Carl Cemetery.
Memorials can be directed to the Iowa Alzheimer's Foundation. Funeral arrangements were by Ritchie Funeral Home of Lenox.
Jeanne Ardith Homan Pierce was born June 14, 1923, in Prescott. She was the daughter of Harvey James Homan and Annie LoVinnie Heatherington Homan. She grew up attending country schools and graduated from Corning High School in 1941.
On Jan. 30, 1943, she married Rex Rolland Pierce in Pacific Grove, Cal. The couple later moved from Nashua to Lenox in 1951.
Jeanne worked in the accounting business for the Bob Reynolds Agency, the First National Bank of Lenox, and the Bob Morris Agency. She was also the director of the Sunrise Apartments.
Upon her retirement, she and Rex kept busy landscaping and mowing. She was active with the Meals on Wheels program for several years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Jeanne enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, quilting, fishing, painting and reading.
Survivors included three children, Alan Pierce (wife Echo) of Lenox, Deborah Linman (husband Robert) of Blufflon, S.C., and Jeffrey Pierce (wife Sherrie) of Des Moines; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding Jeanne in death were her parents, Harvie and Annie, and a sister Gayle and her Rex in June of 2001.
