Charles Edward Huntington, son of Charles and Sarah Isabelle Coulthard Huntington was born October 18, 1902 near Corning, Iowa and passed away October 1, 1977 in Murphy Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa, at the age of 74 years, 11 months, and 13 days.
Edward spent his entire life in Taylor County, Iowa. The early years were spent in the Fairview vicinity where he attended school and grew to manhood. On January 30, 1924 he was united in marriage to Minnie Rubin and they celebrated their Golden Anniversary in 1974. Two daughters, Frieda and Mickey were born to bless this union. The family moved to the Holt community in 1931 where they farmed for 19 years. They then returned to the Fairview Community to the farm where Edward was born.
They farmed there for several years before Edward started employment with the Allied Construction Company of Atlantic for whom he worked until failing health brought about his retirement in 1975.
Edward was a devoted family man, finding great pleasure in his wife's, children's and grandchildren's company and accomplishments. He also found much satisfaction in dreaming and then working with determination to bring those dreams to a fulfilling conclusion. His gentle loving, good natured presence will be missed greatly.
Edward was a member of the Corning United Methodist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents and an infant sister.
Survivors include his wife, Minnie, daughter Frieda and husband Ray Crewell of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; daughter Mickey and husband Dean Combs of Bedford; five grandchildren; Cindi Rae Creswell Rollins and husband David of Atlantic, Georgia Rodney, Edward Combs of Little Rock, Arkansas; Rebecca Dee Creswell Henry and husband Bart of Jensen Beach, Florida; Acott Aaron Creswell of Chicago, Illinois, and Mark Allen Creswell of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; two great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
