Bertha Joanna Everhart Peregrine

Bertha J. Everhart Peregrine was born in Cass County, Iowa July 15, 1895, the daughter of Albert R. and Amelia Silldorf Everhart. She passed away at Rosary Hospital, Corning, Iowa, May 2, 1979, at the age of 83 years, 9 months, and 17 days.
She was married to Carl J. Peregrine at her home in Cass County, on July 15, 1915. One daughter was born to this union Rowena Grace Peregrine Biley.
Prior to her marriage, she taught school in Cass County for two years, after one year in Brooks, Iowa.
Carl and Bertha spent the greater part of their married life in and around Prescott, where she was a substitute teach and president of the P.T.A. for several years. In 1959 they moved to Creston where they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in July 1965. In September 1976 Bertha
moved to the Lenox Care Center in Lenox, Iowa.
She was baptized at an early age in the Methodist Church at Massena. While living in Creston, she was a member of the Women's Club and very active in the Home and Garden division. She was a devoted mother, as well as a talented cook and seamstress who gave much of herself to her family and friends, especially to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Jess and George and her husband Carl who passed away June 29, 1967.
Survivors include her daughter, Rowena; son-in-law Albert Biley, grandchildren, Carl, Eugene, Biley, and wife Sue, Roberta Ann Outhier and husband John, and seven great-grandchildren, Mike, Jim, Lisa, Steven Biley; Philip, Janell, and Paul Outhier, also several nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Funeral services were held at the Goodwin-Lindsay Funeral Home in Corning, May 5, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Larry Davidson of Prescott officiating. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Prescott, Iowa.
Music was provided by Kathy Schafer, organist. Casket bearers were Francis Wood, Paul Schafroth, Clyde R., Jensen, Marvin Hagel, Darrell Green, and Harold Tanner. Honorary bearers were F. A. (Buck) Willisam, Jess Green, Brad Outhier, Gerals Beatty, Carl Shewman, and Dick Dennis.
