John J. Milliken, one of the old and highly respected citizens of Corning, passed away Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from pneumonia and heart trouble, following a brief illness. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Federated Church, the service being conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. C. Miles. Interment was made in Walnut Grove Cemetery. John J. Milliken was born in Orange County, New York, a short distance from New York City, October 13, 1948, and was aged 72 years, 1 month, and 2 days. He came west when quite young and resided for a short time in Wisconsin and Illinois, but for forty-five years has resided in the vicinity of his home farm in Taylor County. He was first united in marriage to Miss Matilda Rose and to them were born two children, Harry, who died in infancy and Clyde. He was later married to Mrs. Harriet Rose, December 6, 1880, and four children were born to them. Johnnie, who died in infancy, and later another son named Johnny, who was killed at the age of 11 years. Ray, who resides on the home farm, and Mrs. E. E. Thomas. Besides his wife and two children, she is survived by a step daughter, Mrs. George Hill of Los Angeles, California, and seven grandchildren and also many friends.
