Rokell David Yearington was born to Edward and Ollie Parrott Yearington, June 9, 1915 near Mount Etna, Iowa. Kelly departed this life March 22, 1977, at the age of 61 years and 9 months.
He was united in marriage February 10, 1950 to Phyllis Ogburn. To this union two sons were born, Michael David of Corning, and Jeffery Jay at home. He is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Patricia, three grandchildren, Kelli Ann, Corey, and Kevin; four broth, James E. Yearington of Creston; Charles W. and Clifford M. Yearington, Corning, Melvin L. Yearington, Barley, Arkansas; four sisters, Mrs. Leo (Berniece) Russell, Riverton, Wyoming; Mrs. Lloyd (Wilma) Gardner, Corna, California; Mrs. Max (Alice) Cross, Greenriver, Wyoming, and Mrs. Olin (Vera) Kimball, Corning; his mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gail Ogburn; seven brothers-in-law, aunts, and uncles, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother and one sister, Mrs. Ronald (Betty) Nolle.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving three years overseas. Kelly was employed by the City of Corning Street Department, four years a street superintendent.
His family was his first love and the out of doors was where he loved to spend his time. He especially enjoyed camping. He was very gifted in the art of building and creating things.
He will be missed very much by his loved ones.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Corning with Rev. Ronald Reed officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Ronald Reed, organist and Donna Peckham, vocalist.
Pall bearers were Jack Hill, Harry Wiechman, Art Kapple, Dick Cook, Paul Lawrence, and Steve Hensdale. Honorary pall bearers were Cecil Costin, Jim Kragel, Dick Scott, and Lloyd Leonard.
Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Corning with military graveside rites by Ourcq Post #117 American Legion.
