Stephen H. Cady died Monday afternoon, September 21, 1914 at his home near Carbon, shortly after 1 o'clock. The cause of his death was cancer of the stomach. Some time ago, Mr. Cady was taken to the hospital in Creston, but it appeared no relief could be given him and he was taken back to his home. Beside Mrs. Cady, Mrs. Else, of near Guss, Christina Well, Spencer, California, Laura Tyler, Frazee, Minnesota, Emma Mulligan, of Seattle, Washington, survive. Mr. Cady, Warner Cady, and Mary Else attended the funeral.Mr. Cady made his home a number of years in Hawleyville, near the coal mines of that vicinity. Some twenty years ago he lived in Villisca and for a time his home was near Carbon. He was totally blind for many years. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday, September 22, conducted by Rev. J. S. Menoher, pastor of the Villisca, M. E. Church. Interment was made in the Villisca Cemetery.
