Merle Sylvester Ross

Merle Sylvester Ross, son of Effie and Madison Ross, was born August 23, 1896 on a farm in the Methodist Grove vicinity, near Nodaway, Iowa. There he spent his entire life. He passed away September 19, 1959 at the age of 63 years and 27 days.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, step-mother, and one brother, James and two sisters, Vera and Jessie.
He leaves to mourn his passing three sisters, Mrs. Pansy Schroeder, Mrs. Fern Dillinger, both of Corning, and Mrs. Wilma Zuber of Des Moines and five brothers, Harold of Indiana, Estel of Brooks, Clarence of Jefferson, Wayne of Prescott, and Chester of Des Moines. There are also a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends and neighbors.
Merle was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand in anyway he could.
Services were held at the Sutphen Funeral Home in Villisca, Iowa, September 22, 1959 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Paul C. Ellis in charge. Pall bearers were Ernie Hamman, Tom Haley, Allen Bergman, James Walter, Holla Spring, and Clinton Groff. Flower bearers were Mrs. Ernie Hamman and Mrs. Tom Haley. Music was by Mrs. Duane Johnson accompanied by Mrs. Florence Taylor. Selections: "Beautiful Lake of Somewhere" and "Beyond the Sunset." Interment was in the Prairie Rose Cemetery.
