Mrs. J. E. Myers departed this life at her home in Sharpsburg Sunday, February 21, 1915, at the age of 71 years, 2 months and 17 days. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church in Sharpsburg Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Mr. Grover, of Flannery, and the body was shipped to Corning on train, No. 12 Tuesday evening. Interment was made in Prairie Rose cemetery Wednesday forenoon. Nancy E. Purdum was born in Brown county, Ohio, December 4, 1843. She was united in marriage to Jonathan Edwin Myers December 24, 1865, and to this union eight children were born, one daughter dying infancy, and Emmett E. twelve
years ago. The living children are F. E. Myers, of Corning; Mrs. H. W. Shuler, of Iveyville; Mrs. D. B. Hummel, of Burlington, Kan.; S. C. Myers, of St. Paul, Minnesota.; Mrs. J. H. Purdum, of Mason City, Iowa, and J. Elmer Myers, of Creston. She is.also survived by her husband. Mrs. Myers has lived in Adams County since December 15, 1881. She united with the M. e. church when a girl and has lived a beautiful Christian life ever since. She was a devoted wife and mother and always ready to help those in need. She had been quite a suffer the past few years, but always did what she could to help others. She will be missed by many friends who extend sympathy to the sorrowing relatives.
