The death of Mrs. Earl Perry of the Fairview vicinity, brought sadness to the devoted family and a large group of life long friends in a vicinity where she has spent practically all of a useful life, devoted to her family and friends. Mrs. Perry had been ill since last June when she was stricken with paralysis from which she never fully recovered. In July her illness became acute and blindness added to her affliction. However, she was always cheerful and appreciative in her attitude and she was tenderly cared for by her husband and daughter, Lois. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Fairview church conducted by the Rev. L. Lair of Corydon. Burial was made in the Prairie rose Cemetery.
Grace Odell, daughter of Homer J. and Sarah E. Odell, was born near Brooks, April 2, 1880 and died at 9:30 a. m., July 26, 1937, aged 57 years, 3 months, and 24 days. She attended the rural schools of Adams County and also the normal school in Shenandoah. She taught for several years in the county and March 21, 1906 she was married to Earl D. Perry on the farm where they have lived since their marriage. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Perry, two deceased, Vivian M., the eldest died August of 1911, and Neva, the youngest died March 4, 1927. The living children are Willard, who is on a farm near Shannon City, Homer, who is studying in New York, but spending his vacation in Mission Work in Louisiana, and Lois, who has been at the home for the summer caring for her mother. Homer did not return to Corning for the funeral as he had recently spent a week with his mother when she was able to enjoy his presence.
Mrs.. Perry is also survived by her devoted husband, two sisters, Ruth McCay, Des Moines, and Mrs. Lee McCofferty, Cromwell, and two brothers, Glen Odell of Long Beach, and Rex of San Diego, California. Her father died in 1928 and her mother a year ago last March.
Mrs. Perry was a member of the Christian Church in Brooks, but after her marriage she united with the Fairview Church and has proven a devoted member in the cause as long as health permitted. Her chief interest in life were in her home and church and she has left her loved ones a wonderful heritage of memories which will enrich their lives.
