Earl D. Perry was born April 8, 1883 in Adams County, Iowa. He passed away January 28, 1955 in his home in Allerton, Iowa at the agoe of 81 years, 9 months, and 20 days.
Earl was the son of Frank Nathaniel and Emily Morgan Perry. He grew up on the farm south of Corning, which he later owned and maintained an active interest in until his death. He attended the rural school and later the Brooks school, after which he taught for several years.
On March 21, 1905, he was married to Grace Odell. Five children were born to this union, Vivian Merle, Willard Donald, Homer Frank, Lois Corinne, and Neva Maurine. He was preceded in death bby his parents, brother, Frank B. Perry, and sisters, Florence and Blanche Perry Homan, daughters Vivian and Neva and his wife Grace in 1937.
Earl united with the South Brooks Presbyterian Church near his home. When that church was closed, he and his family joined the Fairview Christian Church, where he serves in many capacities. December 10, 1943, he was united in marriage to Winifred Grace Yohe and moved from his farm near Corning, to Allerton, where he spent the remainder of his life. He was a member and served in the Allerton Methodist Church. Both in Corning and Allerton he was a member of the IOOF Lodge.
Earl is survived by his devoted wife, Winifred; his sons, Willard of Creston, Iowa, and Homer, Pastor of the United Church of Christ at Wilton Junction, Iowa, his daughters, Lois, Mrs. Phillip Holmgren of Kearney, Nebraska, and step daughter, Laura and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Wells Calbreath of Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and many friends including Arthur Kapple, who has been a devoted tenant and partner for over 20 years.
services were held in the Allerton Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. on January 20, 1965 and a second services was held at the Roland Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Marcus Acrelius Pastor of the Salem Lutheran Church of Creston officiating. Organ music was furnished by Russell Perry of Omaha, Nebraska, grandson of the deceased. Interment was in the Prairie Rose Cemetery with Arthur Kapple, Paul Lund, Chester Jackson, Loren Fuller, Ralph Hardisty, and Maurice Relchsalt acting as casket Bearers.
