Alta Ruth
Alta May Ruth, 91. Granite Shoals. Texas, formerly of Nebraska City, Neb., was born to Frank A. and Alberta E. Day Hunter on March 29, 1906, in Quincy. She died Oct. 25. 1997 at Llano Texas Community Hospital after a brief illness.
She was married to Chester Ruth Sr. in Corning on Feb. 16, 1929. She was a resident of the Carbon and Adams County area until 1942 when they moved to Plattsmouth. Neb., where she lived until moving to Nebraska City in 1973. She moved to Texas in 1994 to be near her daughter. She worked for many years and retired from the Campbell's Soup Company in Omaha, now Swanson Foods.
Mrs. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband- sons James A. Ruth and Chester Ruth Jr.; sister Lydia Hunter: brothers John, Ivan and Lewis Hunter; sisters-in-law Hazel and Fern Hunter.
She is survived by her daughter Alberta (husband Robert) Lynn Granite Shoals; daughter-in-law Donna Ruth, Sidney; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister Sarah (husband Homee) Gravett, Glendale, Ariz., Brother Reverend Alfred (wife Ruth) Hunter, Clarinda; sisters-in-law Mary Hunter, Sandy Ore and Ruby Hunter, Las Vegas, Nev.
Services will be held Oct. 31 at the Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Sidney, with Reverend Michael Metz of the Sidney United
Methodist Church officiating. Visitation is open after 4 p.m. Oct 30 at the funeral chapel. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Oct 31 at the Oakland Cemetery, Quincy, Iowa.
