Franklin Pierce Taylor, son of Henry S. and Sarah Ann Strait Taylor, was born at Quincy, Iowa, December 5, 1881, and passed away at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa, February 23, 1977, at the age of 95 years,1 month and 18 days. Frank grew up in the Adams County area and worked on the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad on the section gang for many years around the Corning, Nodaway and Brooks communities. He followed the work on the railroad and moved to a number of towns.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Ed, Walt, Earl and Jake; and by four sisters, Nelle, Grace, Minnie and Maggie.
Survivors include four sons, Robert Taylor of Golden, Colorado; Richard Taylor of Tennant, Iowa; Claude Taylor of Oroville, California and Lee Day Taylor of Escondido, California; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Larkin-Roland Funeral Home in Corning, February 28th at 1:00 p.m. with Joe Cook officiating. Interment was in the Brooks Cemetery. Music was furnished by Donna Peckham. Pallbearers were Roland Taylor, Henry Heaton, Allen Heaton, Jim Crawford, Glen W. Hossman and Robert Freshour.
