Russell Albert GAY
Russell (Rusty) Albert Gay, 77, was born July 5, 1915 at Carbon to Albert and Flora Misner Gay and died December 20, 1992 at Coldwater, Kansas.
He was cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
In his younger years, Mr. Gay lived in New Market. While living there he was injured when gasoline was splashed in his eyes. As a result of the accident and a hereditary eye problem, he became blind at 99. He was reared in Carbon also receiving his education there.
On March 20, 1946, he married Shirley Ellen Cozad Baker. He made his home in Carbon until a few years ago when he moved to Villisca to live with his niece and recently in Coldwater, Kansas, until moving to a nursing home the last three months.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Maxine and Charlotte; and one son Ronald Baker.
Survivors include his son, Russell (Bub) (wife Esther) of San Diego, California, Beverly (husband Virgil) Armstrong of Booneville, Betty (husband Jerry) Hasler of Des Moines; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Baker of Winterset; a sister, Arbell Larson of Corning; a brother Art Gay of Villisca; a sister-in-law, Virginia (husband Kenneth) Means of Corning, and four grandchildren.
