Mrs. Michael Spring, died last Wednesday morning, at about 10 o'clock at a hospital in Creston. Mrs. Spring, Miss Montie McClelland, was the eldest child of P. M. McClelland and was born in Nodaway township, April 30, 1879, being 39 years, 9 months, and 21 day old at the time of her death. She was married to Michael Spring March 6, 1907 and they at once made their home near Brooks, hence all her life was spent in Adams County. Mr. Spring had just completed a new home just south of Brooks, the carpenter finishing their work their work the day Mrs. Spring died. To Mr. and Mrs. Spring one daughter was born, little Eva Margaret December 23, 1909. Since the birth of the little daughter, Mrs. Spring has been seriously ill. She had an attack of pneumonia and then followed a complication of troubles which seemed not to yield to treatment and all that could be done for her proved to no avail. On the 15th of January she was taken to the hospital in Creston where she passed away February 2nd. The remains were brought to Corning Wednesday evening and taken to the home of P. M. McClelland south of Corning. The funeral services were held Friday at 11 o'clock at the Mt. Zion Presbyterian church south of Brooks, of which Mrs. Spring had been a member since she was fifteen years of age, conducted by Rev. S. F. Gutellus, of the Corning Presbyterian Church and Rev. G. J. Cardy of the Nodaway Presbyterian Church. Interment was made in the Methodist Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Spring is survived by her husband and little daughter, father and stepmother, six brothers, W. H. Emory, Frank, Clyde, Pearl, and Lawrence McClelland; two sisters, Misses Jessie and Blanche McClelland, and a host of friends. Her mother preceded her in death, passing away March 5, 1897.
