SUSANNA ELLEN SNYDER was born February 27, 1827 in Dearborn County, Ind; she lived there a number of years later removing to Mooresville, Indiana, where she was united in marriage to Isaac Oscar Means, February 10, 1845. To this union were born 11 children, six of whom are living and are: George R. Means, residing in Corning, Isaac B. Means, north of Corning, H. W. Means residing near Fontanelle, Melvin A. Means, south of Carl, Mrs. Jane Cooper, and Mrs. Zoah Robinson both residing in Onawa. All attended the funeral except for Mrs. Cooper. He husband died March 13, 1892, since that time she has been living with her children. she had been living with her son Harrison, near Fontanelle, when she died. She died quite suddenly with heart trouble, while sitting in her chair. The remains were brought to Mt. Etna, where the funeral was held in the M. E. church of which denominatin she had been a member since a girl of fourteen. The services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Hollingshead. Interment took place in the Drunkard Cemetery beside her husband. Grandma Means was a fine Christian woman and leaves a great many friends in this vicinity, who, with her children will greatly miss her.
