Mrs. Willard Thomas
Louisa Fay Thomas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Hardisty, Jr, was born at Carbon, Iowa on February 16, 1881 and passed away at the Cottage Rest Home in Red Oak, Iowa, Saturday evening, September 5, 1964 at the age of 83 years, 6 months, and 20 days.
At the age of eight, she moved with her parents to a farm south of Brooks where she took an active part in the Presbyterian Country Church and at a young age was pianist and led singing for four years, starting when she was 13.
October 20, 1897, she was united in marriage to Willard W. Thomas.
She leaves to mourn her passing, a daughter, Laura Fudge; son, Frank G. Thomas; 13 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; three sisters, Myrtle Flowers and Grace Chilcott of Corning, Eva White of Creston, one beloved sister-in-law, Mrs. Inez Harper of Red Oak; a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Thomas has been a member of the Brooks Methodist Church for a number of years, helping and serving wherever she could while her health permitted.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard in November of 1966; a son-in-law; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; four brothers, and two sisters.
She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 6 at 2 p.m. from the Roland funeral Home, Corning, with Rev. Brown Garlock officiating. Music was by Mrs. Brown Garlock and Mrs. Dick Cook. Pallbearers were Earl Marsh, Nell Means, Clarence Giles, Roy Krauth, Wayne Swanson, and Richard Updike. Interment was in the Prairie Rose Cemetery.
