Mrs. Mary Bunting passed from this life Tuesday, August 25, 1925 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Caroline Means, in this city, aged 90 years and 11 days. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Washington Township, Saturday, August 29th, conducted by Rev. J. E. Treloar and the body will be laid to rest in the Baptist Cemetery beside her husband and other relatives.
Mrs. Bunting, formerly Miss Mary Waters, was the daughter of John and Mary Moss Waters. She was born in Virginia, August 14, 1835. From Virginia she went to Muskingum County, Ohio, near Zanesville, and when about 20 years of age was married to John Bunting. After residing in Ohio for a time, Mr. and Mrs. Bunting moved to Illinois, locating near Macomb and they later moved to Nebraska, then located in Iowa in the vicinity of Carl and there Mr. Bunting passed from this life in 1894. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Bunting made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Caroline Means, near Mt. Etna until 1913, when they located in Corning then returned to the farm and in 1915 again located in Corning. The past five years they have resided in the present home of Mrs. Means.
To Mr. and Mrs. Bunting eight children were born, three of whom died in infancy, and Orville D. departed this life about nine years ago at Geraldine, Montana; Marion passed away May 21, 1925 in Mitchell, South Dakota. The surviving children are Mrs. Frank McCabe, Bozeman, Montana, John Bunting of Hedrick, Iowa, and Mrs. Caroline Means of Corning. Beside her children, Mrs. Bunting leaves 19 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Mrs. Bunting was a splendid lady, making many friends. She united with the Baptist Church about 30 years ago. A great many folks will miss Grandma Bunting as she was familiarly called.
