Orville Divill Bunting passed away from this life at the home of his son, Ernie Bunting at Geraldine, Montana, Saturday, October 21, 1916, at the age of 56 years, 6 months, and 12 days. The body was brought to Corning Tuesday evening of last week and taken to his late home, funeral services being held at the Adams County First Baptist Church Thursday morning at 10 o'clock by Rev. F. L. Roper. Interment was made in the Baptist Cemetery.
Orville Divill Bunting, son of John and Mary Bunting was born in Mickingdom County, Ohio April 9th, 1860.
Of his father's family he is survived by his aged mother, Mrs. Mary Bunting, who resides in Adams County and two sisters and two brothers also survive him. Mrs. J. S. Means of Adams County, Iowa; Mrs. Ella McCabe of Bozeman, Montana (not present at the funeral); Marion Bunting of Corning, Iowa and John Bunting of Hedrick, Iowa.
At the age of four years, Mr. Bunting with his parents moved from Ohio and located in Illinois, where he grew to manhood. After residing in Illinois for some years, the family moved to Marion County, Iowa, to make this great state their home. September the 6th, in the year 1881, Mr. Bunting was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Ann Lee, of Sioux City, Iowa. To this union seven children were born, six of whom survive the father. Little Harvey died July 26, 1900, at the age of 8 years. the surviving members of the family are the beloved wife and mother, Mrs. Margaret A. Bunting; the six children, Mrs. Carrie Richards, Bridgewater, Iowa, Mrs. Goldie Cooper and Mrs. Eva Bradley, of Adams County; Pearl Bunting of Adams County; Ernie Bunting of Geraldine, Montana; and Orville, who resides at home. Six grandchildren also survive Mr. Bunting. In the year of 1882, Mr. and Mrs. Bunting came to Adams County to make their home and located on a farm west of mt. Etna, where they resided for four years. They then removed to the home place, which for twenty-nine years has been known as the Bunting farm. This farm is located six miles north of Corning. From a pioneer farm of more than a quarter of a century ago, the Bunting farm today is one of the improved farms of the county. Nearly 25 years ago Mr. Bunting united with the Evangelical Church, later becoming a member of the Adams County First Baptist Church. Mr. Bunting went to Montana for a brief visit with his son, Ernie, at Geraldine. Friday morning while assisting in unhitching the team, he became faint and complained of being dizzy. All that could be done was of no avail and paralysis overcame him and his death was as sudden as it was unexpected.
Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Harvey Lee of Washington, only brother of Mrs. Bunting, two cousins, Avis Bunting of New Sharon and Harmond Almond of Kingston, Montana.
