George Naven died at his home in Taylor county, near Iveyville, Wednesday, December 3, 1913, aged 63 years.
Mr. Naven had been ailing but a few days and big death, which occurred at 8:30 Wednesday evening was quite a shock to his friends. He was not confined to his bed all the time during, his but illness and passed away while sitting in a chair. The funeral services were held at his home Saturday morning at 10:30, conducted by Rev. J. A. Nayle of Shambaugh, assisted by Rev. W. E. Shugg, of Brooks. Interment was made in Prairie Rose Cemetery. Mr. Naven was born in Galena, Illinois on 1850. He was married to Miss Jane Bainter of Galesburg in 1880. Besides his wife, Mr. Naven leaves five children. They are W. C. Naven of Brooks; Mrs. G. A. Pool, north of Corning; Mrs. R. McClelland of Parker, South Dakota; and Clyde and Clarence Naven at home with their parents. Deceased was a resident of this vicinity for many years and enjoyed the respect of a large circle of friends whom mourn his demise. Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. R. McClelland of Parker South Dakota, Mrs. Dollie Randall, Mrs. Freeman Doak, and Oscar Beckett of Stronghurst, Illinois.
