Penninah Jane Bainter Naven
Mrs. George Naven passed from this life at her home near Iveyville, on Tuesday, January 31, 1928, as was mentioned in our paper last week. She was aged 70 years and 5 months. Funeral services were held from the home Friday, February 3, conducted by Rev. T. G. Kelly of Brooks. Interment was made in Prairie Rose Cemetery.
Mrs. Naven, formerly Penninah Jane Bainter, was the daughter of Peter and Emily Bainter. She was born August 31, 1857, near La Harpe, Illinois, and was married to George Naven at Oquawak, Illinois on December 23, 1880. for about six years Mr. and Mrs. Naven made their home near Stronghurst, Illinois, then located in Kansas and later spent about two years in Nebraska and about 37 years ago they came to Iowa and located on their present home farm.
Mrs. Naven was a member of the M. E. Church of Iveyville, having united with that church during the pastorate of Rev. H. S. Main, about 24 years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away on the 3rd of December 1913. Five children survive Mrs. Naven. They are William C. Naven, of Brooks; Mrs. G. A. Pool, of Bedford; Mrs. R. G. McClelland of Shenandoah; and Clyde and Clarence A. Naven of Brooks. Beside her children, Mrs. Naven leaves five sisters, one brother, seven grandchildren and several other relatives and numerous friends to mourn her loss.
