Edward C. Odson, son of Ed and Elizabeth Odson, was born in Adams County, Iowa, August 1, 1883, and passed away at the Rosary Hospital in Corning September 24, 1966, at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 23 days. His mother died when he was a child and he was reared in the home of his uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Odson. On February 7,1912, he was united in marriage to Matilda Johnson and to this union five sons were born, Paul of Corning; Elmo of Nodaway; Glenn of Lenox; Marvin of Omaha and Merle of Villisca. Mr. Odson was a farmer and he and his wife have resided in Adams County since their marriage and on February 7, 1966, they observed their 54th wedding anniversary at their home with family members present.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, two brothers, Arthur and A.E. Odson and three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Anderson, Miss Clara Odson and an infant sister. He is survived by his wife and sons, five daughters-in-law, eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Lloyd (Mary) Dalby of Ottumwa, Iowa, and many other relatives and a host of friends.
Mr. Odson was a baptized and confirmed member of the Strand Lutheran Church and was faithful in attending services and was active in all church work as long as he was able. Funeral services were held September 27th at 3:30 p.m. from the Strand Lutheran Church with Rev. Herbert Bjorkquist officiating. Soloist was Mrs.Kenneth Higgins with Miss Chris Gunderman, pianist. Flowerbearers were Mrs. Ernie Olson and Mrs.Lyle Brenton. Pallbearers were Floyd Jamison,Earl Johnson, Ernie Olson, Russell Anderson, Lyle Brenton and Bob Timmerman
