Nellie Barton, 86, Corning, was born to Lafe and Bertha Mae Moyer Walton on Feb. 25, 1910, at Carbon. She died Feb. 10, 1997 at Corning Nursing and Rehab Center in Corning.

She attended schools in Carbon and Corning.

She was married to Marion Charles Barton on Jan. 27, 1926 in Creston.

Mrs. Barton lived most of her life in Adams County and had worked in Corning area restaurants for many years.

She was formerly a member of the First Baptist church in Corning.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1945; son Walter; infant daughter Carol Rose; and two grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons Wayne (wife Olive) Barton, Corning, Jim (wife Bonnie) Barton, Carl, and Jerry (wife Phyllis) Barton, Corning; daughters Peg Chitty, Nevada, Frances (husband Paul) Montegna, State Center, and Dorthea (husband Bernard) Riley, Corning; sister Jessie (husband Jim) Zumwalt, Kelso, Wash.; daughter-in-law Carilyn Barton, Creston; brother Ronald (wife Helen) Walton, San Lorenzo, Calif.; sister-in-law Mickey Walton, Lockford, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 12 at the Roland Powers Funeral Home in Corning with the Rev. Kenneth Rummer officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Corning.
