MCCLELLAND, SCHAFROTH, KENNEDY, SCHANTZ, SIMPSON, MCALPIN

Roy W. McClelland, the son of Rev. William Carroll and Mary Ann Schafroth McClelland, was born March 7, 1892 at the farm home southwest of Brooks, Iowa, and passed away Friday, May 5, 1978 at the Murphy Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa, at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 27 days.
He enlisted in the Army during World War I and served two years in France. He was a charter member of Ourcq Post 117, American Legion, Corning.
He lived all of his life in Adams County, Iowa, until moving to Villisca in 1938. He was employed by the Burlington Railroad until his retirement.
On April 15. 1920, he was married to Winifred Kennedy at Atlantic, Iowa.
Mr. McClelland was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Bob; and by two other brothers.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter. Audrey Schantz and her husband Dean of Elliott; a son, Austin McClelland and his wife Mildred of Villisca; two sisters. Corinna Simpson and Marie McAlpin of Corning; a brother, Fred McClelland of Mt. Ayr; a sister-in-law. Maude McClelland of Creston; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church in Villisca, May 8 at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Clair Kerns officiating. Interment was in the Villisca.
Music was provided by Mrs. Quincy Dunn. Flowerbearers were Mr. and Mrs. George Carmichael. Mrs. Fred Focht and Mrs. Paul Fisher were in charge of the register. Pallbearers were Pat Kennedy, Jerry Hossman, Lewis Goldsmith. K.K. Kennedy, A.E. McClelland and Tom Schantz. Honorary bearers, American Legion, W. W. 1.
