Funeral services for Mrs. Bess McCoy were held on Tuesday, September 15, 1964 at 2:00 p.m. from the Methodist Church in Villisca with the Rev. George S. Snyder officiating. Interment in the Nodaway Cemetery.
Bessie Norcutt McCoy, daughter of Marshall F. and Ida May Mason Norcutt, was born on March 23, 1891 at Nodaway, Iowa and passed away at the Rosary Hospital in Corning, Iowa on Sunday, September 13, 1964 at the age of 73 years
She grew to womahood in the Nodaway community where she graduated in the first high school class of that school. On April 16, 1913 she was united in marriage to Raymond G. McCoy at Nodaway. To this union four children were born. They engaged in farming in the Nodaway community until moving to Villisca in 1935.
Mrs. McCoy was an active member of the Villisca Methodist Church, the U & I Club, and the Rebekah Lodge.
She was preceded in death by an infant son; one grandson, John Raymond Steele; and one brother Earl Norcutt. She is survived by three children, Mrs. Dorothy Steele, Emporia, Kansas, Joe E. McCoy of Nodaway, and Mrs. Beth Jacobson, Murray, Nebraska; one sister, Mary Edna Everett, Nodaway, three granddaughters; four grandsons; other nieces, nephews, and relatives and friends.
