MRS. G. H. BOWERS

Bertha Amanda Reynolds Bowers daughter of James W. Reynolds and Naomi Eastin, was born January 18, 1869 in Taylor County, Iowa and departed this life September 10, 1945 in Adams County, Iowa at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 22 days. She grew to womanhood and spent her entire life In Taylor and Adams communities, except five years she lived in California.

On June 30, 1887, she was married to Fletcher William Simpson Bowers, who preceded her In death October 28. 1901. Three children were born to this union all of whom survive. They are Lloyd F., and Mrs. Homer Tugel of Corning and John W. of Nodaway, also two grandchildren, Carl Tugel of Atlantic, Iowa and Mrs. Donald Bell of Saginaw. Michigan, also one great grandson, Terry Tugel, one brother Charles Reynolds of Bloomfield, Nebraska, three sisters. Mrs. Stella Griffith of Clarinda, Iowa: Mrs. Henry Dennis of Conovc, South Dakota, and Mrs. Velma Kitchen of near Clifton. Colo,, and a host of other relatives and friends.

On January 31, 1906 in Nodaway, Adams County, Iowa, she was joined in marriage to George Harrison Bowers, who survives her. She was a member of Presbyterian Church at Nodaway and always took an active part as long as her health allowed. She loved her home and was a loving mother and faithful wife and kindly neighbor anf friend.

Funeral services were September 12, at Sutphen Funeral Home with Mrs. Bertha Peterson in charge. Musice was furnished by Mrs. Hazel Hyde and Mrs. Maude Scoll accompanied by Mrs. Grace Nordyke. Pall bearers were C. G. English, Homer Browning, Frank Conway, Charles Watt, M. P Spring, and Clarence Tucker. Mrs. R. D. Agnew was in charge of flowers.
