Mrs. Charles Richards died at the home of her son, George Richards, in the Fairview vicinity, on Thursday, March 22, 1923, at the age of 84 years, 9 months, and 15 days. Funeral services were held at Fairview Church Sunday, March 25th, and the body was laid to rest in the Prairie Rose Cemetery.
Mrs. Richards, whose maiden name was Mary Jane Beatty, was born in Muscatine County. She was married to Charles Richards and for a number of years her home has been in Taylor County. In fact about 55 years of her life was spent in that county. Mr. Richards preceded his wife to the great beyond.
Mrs. Richards is survived by the following children, J. W. Richards, Corning, George F. of Taylor County, Mrs. Hattie Ditto, Maryville, Missouri, and Mrs. Mary Nichols of Halsey, Oregon, also 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, beside other relatives and numerous friends. Her passing brings sorrow to many folk who had known and admired her. She will be missed by many folk.
