Mrs. Clarence (Jesse) Schafroth, 91, of Corning, passed away Monday night, September 26, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home. She is survived by one daughter, Arlene Hunter of Mishawka, Indiana; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Ruby Harlow of Corning.
Funeral services will be held at the Larkin-Roland Funeral Home in Corning, Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. James King officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Larkin-Roland Funeral Home Wednesday night, September 28, from 7:30 to 8:30.
A memorial has been established for the Corning United Methodist Church.

Jessie Sydnia Schafroth, daughter of George Thomas and Nancy Emeline Strait Lawrence, was born March 28, 1886 at Brooks, Iowa and passed away at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Corning, Iowa, September 26, 1977, at the age of 91 years, 5 months, and 29 days.
She attended school at Brooks. She was united in marriage on January 12, 1910 with Clarence Schafroth in Corning, where they resided their entire married life.
Mrs. Schaforth was preceded in death by her husband in 1966 and also by three brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. B. J. (Arlene) Hunter of South Bend, Indiana, three grandchildren, David W. Hunter of Merriam, Kansas, Mrs. Elizabeth Hoening of Toledo, Ohio, and Mrs. Margo Clawson of Elgin, Oregon. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Gregory and Gary Hunter and a sister, Thel Harlow of Corning.
Mrs. Schafroth was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and for the last 66 years in the Corning United Methodist Church and was a member of Circle 2. She was a charter member of the O.D.O. Club. Her life was spent as a homemaker and her main interests were her family and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Larkin-Roland Funeral Home in Corning, September 29 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. James W. King officiating. Interment was in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, Corning.
Organ music was provided by Donna Peckman. Pallbearers were Fred McCard, Carol Little, Bill Kelly, Harold Nevius, Kenneth Nevius, Kenneth Darrah, and bill Wheatley.
