Death of Former Corningite
At his home in Villisca, Thursday, February 1, 1894, John H. Landers, aged 53 years, 10 months, and 27 days.
Mr. Landers is well known to Adams County people, having been a stock buyer here for a number of years. Some time ago he began to be bothered by a small growth on his face which soon developed into a cancer. Everything was done to furnish relief, but in vain. He was an intense sufferer for several months previous to his death and it came as a welcome release to him.
The funeral was from the Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Parson. The G.A.R. post attended in a body and conducted the burial services at the cemetery, a firing squad from Co. B. acting as escort.
