Myrtle Elvina Corbin, oldest child of Fred Alexis and Mary Josephine Cady Else, was born July 24,1891 in Taylor County, Iowa, and entered into rest at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Corning, Iowa, April 24, 1985, at the age of 93 years and 9 months.
She lived most of her life in Taylor County and taught in a country school for 17 years.
She was united in marriage Sept. 2, 1914 with Benjamin Jackson. Two children were born to this union, a daughter Marie Evelyn and a son, Virgil Dean. Her husband and son preceded her in death.
April 21, 1926, she was united in marriage with Lester Corbin. To this union one daughter, Mary Lou, was born. She was also mother., to a step-son, Joy Corbin and a granddaughter, Norma Jean. Her husband and step-son preceded her in death.
Most of her married live was spent on a farm north of Gravity. She was a member of the Oak Hill Church and was a news correspondent for the Oak Hill community for many years.
She was a kind and loving mother and enjoyed her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Marie Perdew and husband Leonard of Conway and Mary Lou Jackson and husband Leslie of Corning; the granddaughter she reared, Norma Jean Finnell and husband Walter of Henderson; 10 other grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and five
great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Cassie Foster of Ankeny, Erma Clowser and husband Willie of Colville, Wash., and Winnie Spring and husband Clyde Lenox and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Gauthier Funeral Home in Corning April 27 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Howard Wells officiating. Interment was in Prairie Rose Cemetery, Corning, Iowa.
