Lyman King died very suddenly at his home in Nodaway at 7:40 p.m., January 8, 1903, at the age of 57 years, 6 months, and 23 days. Very few knew that he had been sick. He had been suffering with neuralgia for two or three days and a few minutes before his death remarked that he was feeling better. In five minutes from that time he was dead. The immediate cause of his death was apoplexy. He was born in Noble County, Ohio and served three years as a member of Co. C. 25th Ohio Infantry. He was married twice, his first wife passing to the unknown in 1880. The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church of Nodaway, Sunday morning conducted by Rev. J. K. Driver. The services at the grave were under the auspices of the G. A. R. He leaves a wife, three children, and a large circle of friends to mourn the death of a kind and loving father and husband, an obliging neighbor and upright citizen.
