Munns: On Friday morning, February 18, 1898, at the home of her son, James Munns of this city, Mrs. Maria Munns, aged eighty-two years, eight months, and twenty days, of old age. The funeral occurred Saturday afternoon, conducted by Revs. J. A. Lovejoy and E. C. Moulton. Interment in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Munns was the wife of our late citizen, James Munns Sr., who departed this life after a happy and prosperous marriage relation of sixty years with the deceased wife. Mr. and Mrs. Munns came to Adams County, in 1863, locating near Quincy in which vicinity they continued to live until some five years ago when they came to town to pass their remaining days with their son.
To them were born two children, a daughter who died at the age of twenty-two and James, who survives them. Mother Munns was a most estimable and Christian woman. The last few years of her life were darkened by the loss of her sight. But this and other old age afflictions she bore patiently. Peacefully and without a struggle, she fell into the last sleep, from which awakening there is no pain or sorrow. The sympathy of all Corning friends is extended the family in their sorrow.
