Death of James Munns Sr.
The Union has announce this we the demise of one of Adams County's oldest and best known citizens, Mr. James Munns Sr., who removed this county nearly forty years ago and established his home half way between Corning and Quincy where he continued to reside until about two years ago when he removed to Corning to pass his declining years with his son, James Jr.
Mr. Munns was born in Pennsylvania September 4, 1811 and died October 1st, 1898, aged 84 years. He removed in early life to New York City where he engaged in contracting. He was married in 1835 to Miss Maria Kitchen, who survives him after a happy married life of nearly sixty years.
Mr. Munns was a man of Puritan principles, a devoted Christian and a loyal and patriotic citizen and a life long republican.
The funeral transpired today from the home of his son, conducted by Revs. J. A. Lovejoy and a. M. beman, the former with whom he had been intimately acquainted during a period of fifty years. Interment in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Mr.. Munns was esteemed by all who knew him.
The sorrowing relatives are the recipients of the deep sympathy of their hosts of friends in their bereavement.
