WILLIAM OSCAR STALDER

Funeral services for W. O. Stalder, 83, were held on Saturday, March 13, 1965 at 2:00 P.M., from the Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca, Adams County, Iowa, with the Rev. Wilton Sinning of Corning, Iowa officiating. The organist, Mrs. Mabel Dunn, accompanied Mrs. Carolyn Harris in the following vocal selections, "Death Is Only A Dream," and "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be." Flowerbearers were Mrs. Veryl Ellis, Mrs. Elsie Gulick, and Mrs. Doris Lane.

Casketbearers include Ed Greenfield, Jerry Greenfield, Donald Pullen, Floyd Hamman, Alvin Stalder, and Russell Hedinger. Interment was in the Methodist Grove Cemetery, Adams County, Iowa.

William Oscar Stalder was one of eight children born to John and Mary Schell Stalder. He was born June 13, 1881, at Courtland, Nebraska, and died March 11, 1965, at Rosary Hospital, Corning, Adams County, Iowa, having reached the age of 83 years, 8 months, and 26 days.

When still a child he came with his parents to the Mt. Zion community and the remainder of his life was spent in the Brooks, Nodaway, and Mt. Zion area. His entire life was spent in farming.

On July 26, 1904, he was married to Lulu M. Bowers and they became the parents of five children. Mrs. Stalder died on February 2, 1913. The young family struggled on, and on May 23, 1916, he was married to Rose Harris at Villisca, Montgomery County, Iowa. Three more children blessed the home, and she preceded him in death on December 13, 1963.

He leaves to mourn his passing one brother, Fred of Brooks, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Ellen Hedinger of Brooks, Iowa; J. Dale Stalder, of Nodaway, Iowa; Esther M. Pullen of Clarinda, Iowa, Ruby E. Greenfield of Villisca, Iowa, Ruth A. Lampe of Winterset, Iowa, Harold I. Stalder of Dowington, Pennsylvania, E. Marie Pullen of Denver, Colorado, and James D. Stalder of Massena, Iowa.

He also leaves to mourn fourteen grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
