McIntyre, Olive O. –
Mrs Olive O McIntyre who was 100 years old last March 20, died Thursday noon at the United Presbyterian home at Washington, Iowa. She had spent the summer here but was taken by ambulance to Washington after suffering a stroke.

Mrs McIntyre was born in Ohio, coming to Corning in a covered wagon with her parents when she was 13 years old. Before her marriage she taught school in Adams Co.

She credited life outdoors especially in her garden for her good health. She had never had the services of a doctor until she was past 96.

Her husband, Jeremiah Ross McIntyre, died in 1932. Survivors: two daughters, Aulora, retired missionary Mrs. Fred Moon, musician of Prescott, 1 son Dr. Bill McIntyre, business manager of the Washington home, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday at Washington with burial there.

McIntyre, Olive O. –
The following was written by Miss Aulora Mclntyre: Mother left us on Sept. 17. "Thou shalt take thy rest in safety," was one of the verses on any scripture calendar. Another, "The city had no need of the sun." She had only 11 days of sickness, mostly in unconsciousness. Mineva and I were able to bring her by ambulance to the home at Washington where she had tender care in the sick bay. We three, Mineva, Wm. and I with Myrna were able to be with her to the last.

Her last summer spent in the old home in Lenox was happy. She recounted the story of her 100th birthday celebration in March to many friends who called. She had been a Sunday school teacher from the age of 15 to 85. She spent many hours at the church. Once her 8 year old grandson said to her, "Grandma, why don't you take your satchel and stay?"

She enjoyed her garden and flowers.

We had her with us far beyond the usual span and her last days were not a burden to us. She contributed much in companionship wise advice, love and kindness.

The service in Washington was conducted by our friend and neighbor, Dr. B. W. Thompson. He said it would be different, because she was different. It was unique and comforting as he gave excerpts from her diary written from 1872 with some of her favorite poems and songs she had memorized during the years.

Lovely flowers were sent by friends and relatives, with some contributions to the memorial fund. That will be something for
the UP Home, probably song books to be used as they join the weekly church service by telephone. The soft music played so beautifully for the service was old hymns which had been her favorites. "Whispering' Hope," was sung by friends. Pall bearers included 2 grandsons and a great grandson.
