Symonds, Thomas –
Thomas Symonds, 86, prominent farmer, died at his home near Lenox early Friday morning. He was born near Mt Etna, Iowa and had been a farmer all his life having lived in Cass, Union, Adams and Taylor counties. He was a pioneer in this area, and had herded cattle on the open prairie with his father and grandfather. He was a member of the Salem Church of the Brethren. He and his wife observed their 59th wedding anniversary Dec 28, 1957.

Funeral services were Sunday afternoon at the Salem Church of the Brethen with Rev. Leonard Lutz and Rev Charles Colyn officiating. Burial was in the Salem Church Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Laura, 3 sons, Everett at home, Raymond of Hopeville, Iowa, Ernest of Creston, 3 daughters, Mrs Mae Case of Brighton, Colo, Mrs Iola Steele of Knoxville, Mrs Sylvia Cairns of Des Moines, 31 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
