Sunday, December 24, 1916, at the residence of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Amby Strait, in Douglas township, occurred the marriage of Miss Lela Strait and Chester L. Gourley, son ofMr. and Mrs. Lon Gourley, of Villisca, Iowa. Rev. A.Y. Cupp, of Carbon, tied the nuptial knot in the presence of only the immediate relatives and friends of the contracting parties.
The bride has lived in this locality all of her life and is highly respected by all. She is a graduate of the Corning High School in the class of 1914, and has since been teaching. She has many attractive qualities and will grace the home over which she has been selected to preside. The groom is a graduate of the Villisca High School and is a hustling young man. After congratulations a bountiul feast was served to which all did ample justice.
A reception was tendered the newly married couple the next day at the home of the groom's parents, four miles north of Villisca. Mr. and Mrs. Gourley will make their home on the Gourley homestead north of Villisca.
