William M. Springer and Martha (McLaughlin) Springer had a son on July 16, 1888 in Victory Township, Guthrie County, Iowa.

It appears that the Springer family also lived in Yell township, Lohrville and Dayton all in Webster County, Iowa and in Logan, Calhoun County, Iowa. Martha is the daughter of David McLaughlin (July 27, 1832 - May 3, 1894) and Mercy/Mary McLaughlin. They lived in Webster and Guthrie Counties, Iowa.

William and Martha McLaughlin Springer moved to Boone Township, Sheridan County, North Dakota between 1900 (a son, Lester, was born in Calhoun County, Iowa in August) and 1902 when another son, Omer was born in North Dakota. Martha O. Springer died on May 7, 1905 and is buried in the Goodrich Cemetery in Goodrich, ND; She was born April 30, 1864. William M. Springer died in Foster County, ND, but a resident of Sheridan County on August 5, 1925.
